GEORGIAS UNDERWORLDS

Sercre Russia

Three young researchers uncover Georgia's hidden underworlds, remnants of the former Soviet Union. In addition to bunkers, they find torture cellars and secret tunnels. Tornike Kapanadze, an experienced digger, guides us through the country's largest bunker system, while archaeologist Ana Sepashvili investigates Stalin's secret prisons. Zhana Odiashvili discovers Stalin's hidden printing works. The documentary film "Secret Underworlds in Georgia" by Jens Strohschnieder sheds light on these dark chapters as part of a ZDF Info series about the underground worlds of the Soviet Union and its former republics.
