Where are those green oasis` in the concrete deserts in which the townspeople find relaxation? Which places exist for breathing freely, filling up with energy and taking a break from everyday city life?
The five-part series discovers the secret green lungs of the city, where nature and humans have recaptured the wilderness together. Own little paradises that are designed by the city dwellers themselves through dugging, growing and trying out. Whether fallow land or backyards - anywhere in the city there are places that carry a touch of holiday in itself and give the townspeople a piece of nature and freedom. We make a journey through four major European cities and travel to Detroit in the US. In doing so, we get to know the places that usually are more for the city dweller than simple gardens: The city oasis is a meeting place and haven of relaxation, creative space and workplace - and often also the center of life. The relationships of the people within the city gardens of London, Budapest, Paris, Leipzig and Detroit are the inner dramaturgy of the series and characterize the liveliness of the city oasis. A true Arte "discovery" journey.
